S.O.D. "Me and My Chauffeur Blues" by Memphis Minnie

6/25/2023 This singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist was a successful, independent woman that never backed down from any kind of fight. Born Lizzie Douglass in 1897, she would be with us until 1973, recording more than 200 songs. Along with Kansas Joe McCoy, she composed, “When the Levee Breaks,” made more popular by Led Zeppelin. With Minnie and Joe however, the song is written from real life experience. Miss Jackson always chewed tobacco, and kept a spit can with her during performances.
