S.O.D. "Paris, Paris, Paris" by Josephine Baker

2/3/2023 This Missouri born singer, dancer, and actor renounced her US citizenship in 1937, and made France her home for the rest of her days. Dubbed the Black Venus, and a few other names, her performances, stunned the audiences in Paris. Her costume, a short skirt of artificial bananas, and a beaded necklace, would become popular throughout the roaring 20s. Born Freda Josephine McDonald in 1906, she would eventually become a civil rights activist, and French resistance agent. Many have been inspired by this unique woman, and you can find two biographies.
