S.O.D. "Cathy's Clown" by The Everly Brothers
2/25/2021 ‘New’ can certainly be a good thing, as this 1960 unconventional pop tune became the brothers’ best selling single. It starts with the chorus, followed by a bridge, then more of the same, with no verses. Something that pop music fans had yet to see. The Library of Congress added it to their National Recording Registry. The song inspired many musicians, including The Beatles, who at one time toyed with the idea of taking the name, The Foreverly Brothers. Of all the versions attempted, Reba McEntire’s was the most successful.
