S.O.D. "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" by The Charlie Daniels Band
9/4/2020 We may have already posted the song, but we have to do it again. This amazing and natural frontman recently left us. Already a multi instrumentalist, playing guitar, fiddle, banjo, and mandolin, he put together a Rock and Roll band right out of high school, and went on the road.
Charlie wrote songs for other artists, and in 1964, along with his friend Bob Johnston, a successful record producer, the composition of “It Hurts Me” was completed. This would be recorded by Elvis Presley. In 1977, Daniels played at Jimmy Carter’s inauguration, and early on was a supporter of his candidacy.
In all, he was inducted into four music halls of fame, and was a member of the Grand Ole Opry. In the political world, he was quite outspoken. He was also a member of the NRA, and made musical appearances in their videos. Daniels released 30 albums and 54 singles, and appeared in 19 films. He was born in Wilmington NC., in 1936, and died in the bordering state of TN., in Nashville. Charles Edward Daniels Jr. is his only child.
