S.O.D. "My Island Home" by Warumpi Band

5/18/2020 This 1987 pop rock song won Song of the Year at the 1995 APRA Awards in Australia.  One of the founding members of the group, Neil Murray, composed the song.  The band split up in 2000, and lead vocalist, George Rrurrambu, left us in 2007.  He died on Elcho Island in the Northern territory of Australia where he was born.  Hardly ever will you find a musician or celebrity passing away in their hometown.  Between 2000 and 2007 he had a decent solo career and for the most part returned to traditional aboriginal life.
