S.O.D. "I Can See Clearly Now" by Johnny Nash
10/25/2020 This wonderful singer-songwriter, composer, producer, and actor, born in Houston, TX., left us on 10/6/20, the same day as Mr. Van Halen. This 1972 song was his most popular hit, and stayed atop of the Billboard Hot 100 and Cash Box charts for four weeks. Certainly a tune to lift your spirits. Nash wrote and produced the song.
His two genres were Traditional Pop and reggae, and he became one of the first artists not of Jamaican dissent to record reggae in Jamaica. This came after moving to Jamaica in 1965, and teaming up with other musicians. He was singing songs on TV at age 13, and at 17, signed his first record deal. Seventeen albums and 66 singles are to his credit. Nash also formed a couple record labels and won an award for acting.
Along with many other artists, much of his material was destroyed in the 2008 Universal Studios fire. Seems like he concentrated on his career a great deal, as there is no mention of bad habits.
