4/10/2019 This classic folk tale is told by song and dates back before the 1600s. The oldest surviving copy is from 1635, and has to do with the perils of Sir Walter Raleigh’s Ship, and the sea boy who saves it. Many versions have been written with different outcomes, including by Burl Ives, Pete Seeger, Bob Dylan, Peter, Paul and Mary, and Crooked Still.
