S.O.D. "Baseball Boogie" by Mabel Scott
4/12/2019 ‘Tis the season y’all. Born in 1915, Miss Scott was aware of her talented voice while singing in church, and in her early 30s developed the all girl gospel vocal group, the Song Cycles. Less than two years later she was in New York City singing with Cab Calloway and his Orchestra at the Harlem Cotton Club. She went on to play in many different clubs and recorded in England with pianist Bob Mosley. Scott would eventually in later life, go back to the gospel genre and would only sing in church. This was largely due to her disappointment in the music business.
