S.O.D. "For Pete's Sake" by The Monkees

3/10/2019  This song is all about being free and loving one another.  From their 1967 album, “Headquarters,” we will use this song as a dedication to Peter Tork, who just made the trip to Music Heaven on February 21.  Contributing vocals, guitar, bass guitar and keyboards to this popular pop rock/psychedelic pop group, mainly active from 1966 to 1971, with many reunions and other musical happenings.  They are currently listed as being active since 2012.

Born Peter Halston Thorkelson in 1942 in Washington DC, he began playing piano at age nine and soon started playing a few other instruments including banjo and the acoustic bass guitar.  He grew up mainly in Connecticut, and moved to New York City after a few years in college. Once there, he was magnetized to the Greenwich Village folk music scene where he began meeting many musicians who were yet to be discovered.  Gotta love The Monkees!!!!!!
