S.O.D. "Lovergirl" by Teena Marie
9/19/2018 Born Mary Christine Brockert, she dedicated her career to the genres of R&B, soul, disco, Hip-hop, funk and Jazz. Many people that had never seen her, and only heard her, thought that she was black due to her powerful and soulful vocals. She eventually earned the title, "Ivory Queen of Soul."
Her untimely death at age 54 was a shock, and most likely caused by a freak accident blow to the head six years before. After her third album, "Irons in the Fire" in 1980, she began writing and producing most of her songs, playing rhythm guitar, keyboards and congas. This was her biggest hit.
