S.O.D. "Old Hen Cackle" by Deford Bailey

9/5/2018      Known as the first performer and first African-American performer to grace the Grand Ole Opry stage.  He took up the harmonica at age three, which is his signature instrument although he also played banjo, guitar, and a few others that are not listed.  His song "Pan American Blues" which he composed in 1927, is the very first recording of a harmonica blues solo.  Bailey passed in 1982 at the age of 82. He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2005.   The Enyclopedia of Country Music described him as: The most significant black country star before World War II.  Look up some of his works, it's worth it.
