S.O.D. "Pa'lante" by Hurray for the Riff Raff

2/12/2018      This song kind of just grabbed me and kept me listening.  The singer has a strong will “to be something” in this life.  What makes it even stronger is the woman singing, and that it is a woman.  Alynda Segarra is of Puerto Rican dissent, and her mother is Ninfa Segarra, former Deputy Mayor of New York City and the last President of the New York City Board of Education until all power was transferred to the Mayor in 2002.  Alynda saw the United States when she was 17 mainly by hopping freight trains.  This group came out of the Bronx in 2007 and it’s time to watch their progress.
