S.O.D. "Ordinary Day" by Dolores O'Riordan
2/1/2018 How much do we love her? Many of us didn’t know we loved her, but then you hear her sing, luring you in and the entrancement begins. What an immense heartbreaking loss for the music world and for what she meant to all of us individually. O’Riordan was raised Roman Catholic and is named after the Lady of the Seven Dolours or Lady of Sorrows. She grew up the youngest of seven children in Ballybricken, County Limerick, Ireland, her father a farm labourer, her mother a school caterer.
While with The Cranberries, five albums were released, along with a greatest hits album. Many of us remember “Zombie” as one of their best hits. In 2004, she went solo and “Ordinary Day,” which she wrote, was her first released single from her first album, “Are You Listening,” which charted in 17 countries. She released two albums and five singles as a solo artist and mixed it up with a ton of popular artists. In 2008 she took home a European Border Breakers Award (EBBA), which takes notice of artists effecting audiences outside of their own countries with music from their first international released album in a year’s time.
Authorities have announced the results of her death will not be made public until April or later. Enjoy the song and blast her works all day and beyond. First, a moment of silence please.
