S.O.D. "Dirty Water" by The Standells

5/16/2017     This is a 1965 release that was written by Ed Cobb, a musician, producer, and songwriter who wrote songs for many big acts, including Pink Floyd, Steely Dan, and Fleetwood Mac.  "Dirty Water" hit #8 on the Cash Box chart and #11 on the Billboard Singles chart.  The song's meaning is referring to the polluted waters of the Boston Harbor and the Charles River in that time period.

The Standells formed in Los Angeles in 1962 and are still rocking with keyboardist and lead vocalist Larry Tamblyn, being the sole constant member.  They are sometimes referred to as "the punk band of the 60s," and have inspired artists such as the Ramones and the Sex Pistols.
