S.O.D. "Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White" by Perez Prado

4/22/2017      Louis Guglielmi "Louiguy," composed this mambo in 1950. Just under 50 versions have been released with Prado's instrumental cut being the most successful and staying at #1 for 10 weeks on the Billboard chart in 1955.  Alan Dale released the most popular vocal version, and Eddie Calvert, popular British trumpeter saw his instrumental version take the #1 spot for four weeks.

Prado passed on to mambo heaven in 1972 with a ton of popular songs for us to enjoy.  He was a composer, arranger, band leader and musician, playing piano, organ, and keyboards.  Many referred to him as "King of the Mambo."
