S.O.D. "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Want to Rock 'n' Roll)

11/29/2017     Although he let his little brother take the foreground, Malcolm Young was the primary songwriter and leader of this high-energy rock group.  This song which was featured in the film “School of Rock” starring Jack Black, was written by Malcolm, Angus, and vocalist Bon Scott.

Malcolm had five brothers and one sister of which all the boys played an instrument.  Malcolm and Angus are the youngest.  In 2014 when Malcolm left the band due to dementia, his nephew Stevie filled in supposedly temporarily.  His return however was not to be, and he took the trip to Rock ‘n’ Roll Heaven on November 18, 2017.

Malcolm‘s very first group, the Marcus Hook Roll Band, was formed in the early 70s with Angus already playing lead guitar (all members agreed that he looked better in the uniform) and their brother George joining in as well.  They released a single called “Can I Sit Next To You Girl,” which did chart but disappeared rather quickly.  In 1977 AC/DC began touring with Black Sabbath and things got a bit rough between the members of both bands. While Ozzy and Scott became friends, there was a bit of tension otherwise such as bassist Geezer Butler pulling a knife on Malcolm. They began touring with Rainbow soon after this.

Brother Malcolm, you have rocked for many years and for that We Salute You!!!
