S.O.D. "My Humps" by The Black Eyed Peas

9/5/2015     Although this monster smash hit won Best Hip-Hop Video at the MTV Music Awards in 2006, took the Grammy in 2007 for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, charted in 19 countries, was one of the fastest rising singles in the history of many charts around the world, went 2x platinum and sold more then 2,200,000 downloads, the majority of music critics gave it a thumbs down.  Are music critics really needed?  

     The song is basically about a woman who uses her breasts and buttocks to accomplish her goals and Fergie pulls this off marvelously. The 2005 release was written by William Adams and David Payton.  Adams a.k.a. will.i.am is pretty much the band's mastermind, starring in the video and sharing the vocals with Fergie, playing every instrument on the track, mixing the track, and using his own record label, will.i.am.  

     Many covers and a handful of parodies we're done including a 2007 parody by Alanis Morissette meant to be an April fools prank. There is only a piano to accompany her vocals as she parodies Fergie's dance moves.  Fergie thought it was so hilarious and genius she sent Morissette a cake in the shape of a derrière.  

     The Black Eyed Peas formed in Los Angeles in 1992, have sold over 76 million records and at the end of 2011 were the 2nd best selling artist/group of all time for downloadable sales with 42 million sold.
