S.O.D. "Crazy Love" by Poco

9/6/2015     Founding member Rusty Young wrote this #1 country rock song in only 30 minutes.  He was at his Los Angeles home paneling the walls when the chorus just came into his head.  Always having a guitar close by, he proceeded to create the masterpiece.  Normally the instrumentalist of the group who did no singing or writing, it became ironic that Young would write the group's first Top 40 single and eventually #1 Adult Contemporary single.  It held that position for 7 weeks and was named Song of the Year on that chart for 1979.  It remains the band's signature song and during a 2008 interview, Young stated "it's a classic and it still pays the mortgage".  Timothy B Schmidt, bassist for the Eagles was a part of Poco during the rise of "Crazy Love".

Poco was formed in Los Angeles in 1968 after the demise of Buffalo Springfield. Their first album "Picking Up the Pieces," is a reference to that Break up.  Guitarists Richie Furay and Jim Messina were also founding members of Poco.
