S.O.D. "With Her Head Tucked Underneath Her Arm" by Stanley Holloway
9/18/2016 Recall the story of Anne Boleyn? Seems that King Henry VIII, her husband at the time, had her beheaded in 1536 for generally false charges of treason, incest and adultery. After her death, many stories arose about her ghost haunting the tower where she was executed, with the most believable version coming in 1856. This is when a general in the tower saw a guard below charging a white female figure with his bayonet. The general saw him go right through the figure and then faint.
It was written in 1934 by English songwriters Robert Patrick Weston and Bert Lee. A number of covers were done including by the Kingston Trio, the Barron Knights and the Mickey Mouse Club, how strange. The times and people of England in the early 1500s had quite a way about them.
