S.O.D. "Kick Out the Jams" by MC5
8/24/2016 Written by all five members of this multi genre group focusing mainly on rock, blues and punk. It is the title track from their 1968 controversial album that one might say is ahead of its time. On the intro of the single and written on the inside of the album sleeve are the words "mother fucker," which in those days didn't sit well with folks. They are some of the first innovators of hard rock and punk and were known for their energetic live performances.
Producing three albums and eight singles in their initial eight year tenure from 1964-1972, their first album "Kick Out the Jams" is rated highly on many lists and just has to be turned up when you listen to it. "Kick out the jams," a saying back then, basically meant to break down the restrictions that kept musicians from playing what they wanted, where they wanted. It began however as a saying by the band just telling the other band to get off the stage so they could play, hence, "Kick Out the Jams."
