S.O.D. "Ace of Spades" by Motorhead

8/19/2015     Two versions of this heavy metal/speed metal tune were released and written by all three members of the band.  The first released in 1980 is from the same titled album "Ace of Spades", and the 2nd from their live album, "No Sleep at All" in 1988.  Many sleeves have been designed for the 45 including some with the lyrics in Japanese, another with the three band members in Santa suits, and a one-sided test pressing that escaped the pressing plant and are on the market.  The tune has been rated by VH1 as the 10th greatest hard rock song of all time and on Q magazines list of the 100 Greatest Guitar Tracks it came in 27th.

Motorhead was formed in London England in 1975 by bassist, vocalist, songwriter and sol constant member Ian Fraser Kilmister, professionally known as Lemmy. They are still active as a power trio and have had only seven past members. The group helped define different heavy metal genres during the up-and-coming age of British heavy metal in the 80s.
