S.O.D. "Help Me" by Sonny Boy Williamson II
7/9/2015 A 1963 midtempo classic 12 bar blues from one of the greatest and most energetic harmonica players of all time. Written by Williamson, musician Willie Dixon and record producer Ralph Bass, it is based on the 1962 single "Green Onions" by Booker T. and the MGs. "Help Me" reached #24 on Billboard's R&B chart and in 1987 was inducted into the Blues Foundation Hall of Fame in the category of Classic Blues Recordings.
He was born Alex Miller in Tallahatchie, Mississippi in 1912 and died in 1965. He was very influential in his years, toured Europe with the American Folk Blues Festival and recorded with many rock musicians including The Animals, The Yardbirds and Jimmy Page. Another blues musician by the name of Sonny Boy Williamson is the reason he took the name Sonny Boy Williamson II.
