S.O.D. "Rock of Ages" by Def Leppard
7/18/2015 First, let's clear up the mystery of the beginning 4 words: Gunter glieben glauten globen, there ya go. Producer Mutt Lange was a perfectionist and would do many takes before he was satisfied. He would start the band off with a "1 2 3 4" and after a while became weary of saying this and started speaking gibberish words. The band liked these particular 4 words so much they were used on the track.
Lead vocalist Joe Elliott was prompted to write the lyrics after picking up a songbook left in the studio by a children's choir. When he opened the book he saw the words Rock of Ages and that was that. Released in 1983 and written by Elliott, guitarist Steve Clark and producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange, it went to #1 on the Billboard Top Tracks rock chart and #16 on the Billboard Hot 100.
