S.O.D. "Hold On Loosely" by .38 Special
6/12/2015 Maybe their most popular song ever and the 13th song to play on MTV the day it went on the air. The song is written by bandmembers Don Barnes and Jeff Carlisi with some help by Jim Peterick of rock group Survivor. It shows up as the first song on their 1981 album "Wild-Eyed Southern Boys". On the Billboard Hot 100 it ranked at #27 and on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks at #3.
During its reign you could count on hearing this song when going to see a live rock cover band. A few of the band's albums have gone to #1 on Billboards Albums Rock Tracks chart.
In 1974, neighborhood friends Don Barnes and Donnie Van Zant formed 38 Special in Jacksonville Florida and they continue to rock today with Barnes being the only original member.
