S.O.D. "Whiskey" by Trampled by Turtles

5/27/2015      This is a request song from John Hollifield who said that during the bluegrass festival-DelFest, he was sort of struck, more by the music rather than the meaning of the tune.  The band formed in Duluth, Minnesota in 2003 under the genres of Indie folk, Alternative country and Bluegrass and have proved themselves to be a musical force.  Of their eight albums, 5 have charted and 3 have hit the #1 position with the other two coming in at #2 & 8.  Their fifth album Palomino, hit #1 on the Billboard Bluegrass chart and stayed in a top 10 position for 52 straight weeks.  

     Their songs have been featured on a few TV shows and their single "Alone" can be heard at the end of the 2013 film "The Way Way Back".  In 2012 they made their television debut on David Letterman and would return to the show in 2014 to play songs from their Wild Animals album. They are also known for playing many national festivals.  The band has cited Bob Dylan, Neil Young, the Rolling Stones and Nirvana as some of their influences.   If anyone would like to request a S.O.D. please feel free.  Any feedback is also welcome including harsh criticism.  After all, 'tis the biz of music!!
