4/29/2015 The genre is country but this song did not get promoted to country radio right away. It showed up on the Billboard Hot 100 at #26 and #4 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks. It was also popular in Canada peaking at #8. The tune is from his 1972 album, "The Silver Tongued Devil and I. Kris has been married three times including to singer Rita Coolidge for 7 years, and has 8 children. He served for five years in the United States Army and was a captain when discharged. His father was a major general in the Air Force. Many of the songs are his own work including Me and Bobby McGee that Joplin made famous.
In 1985 the Country supergroup- The Highwaymen were formed consisting of Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings. They were active from 1985–1995. He had an exceptional acting career, starring in many films and winning a Golden Globe for his performance alongside Barbra Streisand in the 1976 film, "A Star is Born". In 2004 he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Kristofferson is now 78 y/o and in 2016 will have been performing for 50 years.
