S.O.D. "Tube Snake Boogie" by ZZ Top
4/20/2016 Sorry but this song is not about what you think it is. In slang terms Tube Snake means surfboard. Under the genres of hard rock/surf rock/blues rock, the 1981 release made it to #4 on the U.S. Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. The tune was produced by Bill Ham, who has been their manager and producer since they were known as the "Moving Sidewalks." He produced not only records for the band, but their image as well. He founded Lone Wolf Productions and has also worked with country artist Clint Black, rock and blues multi instrumentalist, Eric Johnson, and southern rock group Point Blank. Ham stayed with ZZ Top until 1996.
Just a handful of musical groups can match ZZ Top's consistency, keeping the same lineup of musicians for 45 years. They have released 45 singles with 34 making the top 40, 17 in the top 10 and 6 chart toppers. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. Keith Richards gave the induction speech.
