S.O.D. "21st Century Schizoid Man" by King Crimson
3/29/2016 Beginning in 1968 in London, this rock group, engaging seven genres, are active again after five hiatuses. Greg Lake sings the original version and provides bass guitar. This was before he helped to form Emerson, Lake and Palmer in 1970. The genres of heavy metal, jazz fusion and progressive rock, blend to create this 1969 release. It is a strange mix of vocals and instrumental "rock wonder," I guess is a good description.
The lyrics represent images and the main instrumental section is called "Mirrors." Guitar world ranked Robert Fripps lead guitartar solo at #82 on their list of the Top 100 Greatest Guitar Solos. The tune comes in at 7:20 minutes. English lyricist, record producer and musician Paul Sinfield wrote the song who also went on to write for Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Roxy Music and many other artists.
