S.O.D. "Lived In Bars" by Cat Power
2/9/2016 From the 2006 album entitled "The Greatest." Chan Marshall is the driving force behind the music and the composer of every track. It ranked in 10 countries, debuting at #34 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the U.S. Top Independent Albums chart. Seattle based online music service, Rhapsody, rated the album #6 on their list of Alt/Indie's Best Albums of the Decade." Rolling Stone Magazine placed it as the 6th best album of 2006.
There is a music award called the Shortlist Prize. It is given to an artist for having an album categorized as a best release in the U.S. selling less than 500,000 copies. In 2006, Marshall was the first woman to accomplish this. She has been active since 1992 with her first band, Cat Power, which she took as her solo name when the band dispersed.
For this album, 12 musicians collaborated of which some are considered the greatest soul musicians of all time. This tune is sort of sad and at times, a bit happier but whatever you do, don't live in bars.
