S.O.D. "Lucky Man" by Greg Lake
12/17/2016 Yes, this is the right song to say goodbye to this incredibly gifted musician. Born on November 10, 1947 in Dorsett, England and making what I'm sure was a melodic assent to Music Heaven on December 7, 2016. Lake wrote "Lucky Man" at the age of 12, the same year he started playing guitar. On the charts it surprisingly only charted in three countries, including four charts in the US, ranking higher in Canada at #25 and on the Dutch Top 40 Singles chart at #14.
It was the single "Lucille" by Little Richard that peaked his interest in Rock and Roll at the age of 10. After King Crimson in the 60s and ELP in the 70s, Lake went on to a solo career in 1975. As a solo artist he released three studio albums and eight singles, his first being the popular "I Believe in Father Christmas." During his time with King Crimson, 2 studio albums were released and later, the concert album "Epitaph" in 1997. With ELP, 9 studio albums were created which spawned 16 released singles. 21 live albums also exist.
In January 2016, the Conservatorio Nicolini located in Piacenza, Italy, awarded Lake with an honorary degree in music and lyrics composition. His auto biography "Lucky Man" is planned for release in September 2017. Farewell Greg, your legacy is strong.
