S.O.D. "Feels Like Rain" by John Hiatt
10/11/2016 It appears that somewhere around 60 or so artists have covered his material. He began playing guitar at age 11 and as a teenager was playing in local clubs in Indianapolis. Upon moving to Nashville at age 18, his first job was a whopping $25 a week writing songs for the Tree Music Publishing Company. During this time he was also playing with the band White Duck who was popular in Nashville and recorded a few albums.
Active since 1972, he achieved success in 1987 with the album "Bring the Family" and his rock hit "Thank You Girl." The rest of the band included Nick Lowe on bass, Ryland "Ry" Cooder on guitar, and providing the beat was Jim Keltner who is known for his work with Lennon, Harrison and Starr. Beginning in 1992 these musicians stayed together calling themselves "Little Village" a name taken from a Sonny Williamson II song. Guitar, keyboards and harmonica are his main instruments with which along with his vocals he has put into 22 studio albums.
