S.O.D. "Smuggler's Blues" by Glenn Frey
1/19/2016
Another fantastic artist has left us. Glenn Frey was a musician, songwriter, record producer, actor and painter. He is one of the four founding members of the Eagles who were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. When the Eagles split up in 1980, Frey embarked on a very successful solo career. Combining his time with the Eagles and his solo work, he has had 24 Top 40 singles that have placed on the Billboard Hot 100.
"Smuggler's Blues" went to #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was part of the TV show Miami Vice's 15th episode in which Frey plays a pilot. In 1985 the blues rock tune won an MTV Video Music Award.
At a very early age he studied piano and had a band in high school called the Subterraneans. The first song he professionally played on in a studio was "Rambling Gambling Man" by Bob Seger. Throughout the years the two sometimes wrote songs together. Sorry everyone but the videos aren't working with this one.
