S.O.D. "Autonomy" by Buzzcocks

12/10/2015     The true nature and only possible proof of liberty, the sovereignty of reason in the sphere of morals, one's own power or law. These are unfortunately not my words but is the meaning of autonomy as given by Webster's.

This 1978 pop/punk/rock tune is from their album "Another Music in a Different kitchen," which is their very first album.  "I Don't Mind" is arguably the best track on the album although many believe "Autonomy," known as a B-side, is their best track ever.

The group got their start in Bolton, England in 1976, took a hiatus from '82 to '88 and are back at it with their first 40th Anniversary shows coming up in Australia and New Zealand.

In 2005, current member Pete Shelley on guitar and vocals re-recorded their tune "Ever Fallen In Love," featuring the supergroup of Roger Daltry, David Gilmour, Robert Plant, Peter Hook, and Elton John.  This was done as a tribute to disc jockey John Peel, who passed in October 2004.  On the HBO series Entourage, their song "Why Can't I Touch It" appeared on the 2nd episode of the sixth season.
