S.O.D. "Interstate Love Song" by Stone Temple Pilots

12/5/2015     Here we go with a tribute guys. Another artist taken from us on Dec 3, in the form of Scott Weiland who was with the Pilots from their  start in 1989 until 2013 when he was dismissed from the group.  The alternative rock group released 7 albums, with Weiland writing all of the lyrics or most of the lyrics on the first five.  His vocal style is mainly influenced by David Bowie and Jim Morrison and some of his idols were Robert Plant, Aerosmith, and the Rolling Stones.

It topped the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, pushing aside another STP song, "Vaseline" and staying at  #1 for 15 weeks.  The tune was also ranked #58 on VH1's Greatest Hard Rock Songs of All Time list.

The group was one of the most successful bands of the 90s, selling over 40 million albums with their album "Core" going 8X Platinum.  16 of their singles were in the top 10 with 8 going to #1.  Stephen Erlewine of AllMusic may have said it best, "STP made music that sounded great at the time and even better now."  "This music has stood the test of time".  "STP was the best straight-ahead rock singles outfit of their time".
