S.O.D. "Spirit in the Sky" by Norman Greenbaum

12/27/2014     Greenbaum had never written a gospel tune, saying of the genre, "Knowing nothing about gospel music, I sat down and wrote my own gospel song.  It came easy.  I wrote the words in about 15 minutes."  He writes about Jesus in the song even though he is Jewish.  The tune took the #1 spot in Austria, Ireland, Canada and the UK.
