S.O.D. "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine" by Lou Rawls

12/3/2015      This 1976 R&B hit is Rawls signature song and took his career to the next monetary level.  It placed on 4 U.S. charts at numbers 1, 1, 2 and 4.  The tune was also the first chart topper for the record label, Philadelphia International owned by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, who wrote the song.  For his concerts, Rawls would always open with the song after 1977.

Featured in quite a few movies and sitcoms, one of the most memorable would have to be the show, "My Wife and Kids" which aired between 2001-2005.  Lou Rawls sang the song to Damon Wayans while he was undergoing a colonoscopy. I can't even think about that without busting a gut.

Rawls was an amazing vocalist, with Frank Sinatra stating, "He has the classiest singing and silkiest chops in the singing business".  He released over 60 albums, sold more than 40 million records, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and won three Grammys, all for Best Vocal Performance.

Of the many times he was asked to sing the Star-Spangled Banner, the 2005 World Series between the Chicago White Sox and Houston Astros probably held the most meaning for him.  Although very ill at the time, Chicago is his hometown and he got to sing for his childhood idols and watch them play. It is hailed as one of his finest renditions.
