S.O.D. "I Like to Rock" by April Wine

12/19/2015     Anyone remember the King Biscuit Flower Hour?  It was a rock 'n' roll radio show featured on Sunday nights from 1973–2007.  It is also an image done in an old-time theme on April Wine's Greatest Hits album sleeve.  "I Like to Rock" appears on that album as well as the 2002 album of the same name.   The album was recorded in 1982 and the single was actually released in 1983.

April Wine's most successful tune was the ballad, "Just Between You and Me."  Not too far behind that on the charts was "Sign of the gypsy Queen."

The group got their start in Halifax Canada in 1969 and are still rocking, adored by loyal fans.  Myles Goodwyn on guitar and lead vocals has been the primary songwriter and soul constant member throughout.  They have been inducted into three music halls of fame, and released 41 albums and 34 singles.

In 1977 while playing a concert in Montreal, a small name band called The Cockroaches were also on the bill.  As it turned out, The Cockroaches were actually The Rolling Stones.  This did not fool many fans as there was a larger than normal turnout.
