S.O.D. "Brass In Pocket" by The Pretenders
11/8/2015 Even though she had a hand in the writing, lead vocalist Chrissie Hynde initially disapproved of this song's release commenting: "They could release it over my dead body". We all know of course that she was otherwise persuaded. It tells the story of a woman, probably Hynde, who is hoping to have her first sexual experience. She is loaded with confidence in both her sexual abilities and sex appeal.
Renowned music author Dave Thompson, believes the song could possibly be about The Pretenders' first live concert. The track hit #1 in 5 of that 12 countries it charted in made it to 6 Year-end charts.
In 1970 Hynde moved from Ohio to Hereford, England where the band found its origin in 1978. New wave, alternative rock and punk rock are the main genres associated with the group, with Hynde being the main songwriter. They have had their share of struggles and heart breaks with two of the original members passing on. The Pretenders have released 10 albums with "Back On the Chain Gang" being their biggest hit in the U.S.
