S.O.D. "East Bound and Down" by Jerry Reed

11/30/2015     Many of us are familiar with this tune under the genres of country and truck–driving country.  Just about everyone had a CB radio at this point.  It was written by Jerry Reed and singer-songwriter Dick Feller for the 1977 movie, Smokey and the Bandit, starring Burt Reynolds and Sally Field, which came in 2nd for making the most money of all films that year.  

     Reed's on lead vocals with Gordon Stoker on back up and harmony.  Stoker was a member of the Jordanaires, a vocal quartet active for 65 years up until 2013.  The The song reached #2 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart and #3 on the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart.  

     Jerry Reed has been in 14 films, has made 49 albums and released close to 70 singles. He was active from 1956-2008 when he passed on to Country Music Heaven.
