S.O.D. "Fight For Your Right" by the Beastie Boys
11/28/2015 Included into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll, this 1987 hard rock/rap rock release has received 20 different accolades from 1986–2014. Try comparing the music video to the horror film, "Dawn of the Dead," lots of similarities.
The song was meant as a parody of party tunes and not as a "fight for your right to party" meaning. Not many fans conceived the true meaning.
The Beastie Boys formed in 1978 as The Young Aborigines and changed their name to the Beastie Boys in 1981. In 2012 they ended their careers as a group and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the same year. This made them only the 3rd group involving rap to be inducted behind Run-D.M.C. and Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five. They have sold over 50 million records worldwide.
