S.O.D. "Letters From Home" by John Michael Montgomery
11/11/2015 It's Veterans Day everyone. Here's a tune to honor the men and women that have served so honorably. Written by Tony Lane and David Lee for Montgomery's 2004 album "Letters From Home", the idea for the song came to Lee after witnessing a soldier saying goodbye to his girlfriend before boarding a plane.
The soldier in the song is at war overseas and receives letters from his mother, father and girlfriend which he shares with his comrades. His father sends him a letter with a message of pride for his son which is what the soldier has been waiting a long time to hear.
In the music video the soldiers are real as it took place in Smyrna, TN at the Army Aviation Support Facility. Alternative folk/ rock musician, Freddy Mullins, portrays the soldier in the video.
