S.O.D. "By the Light of the Silvery Moon" by Lillian Lorraine

10/27/15     The first performance goes back to 1909 when Lorraine sang it live on stage.  There's no evidence of any footage for her so we're going with another 1909 version by Bill Murray and Haydn Quartet.  A handful of artists put their touch on it including Little Richard, Etta James and Doris Day for her movie of the same name.

The music was composed by Gus Edwards, an American songwriter, music publisher and vaudevillian. popular American lyricist, Edward Madden, took care of such.  The song has also shown up in public media on many occasions as in episodes of "All In The Family", "The Three Stooges", "Happy Days" and "I Love Lucy".

Also, this song may remind some of us of a wonderful thing that seems to be lacking in the world today called Romanticism.  That's right I capitalized it!!
