S.O.D. "Strong Enough" by Sheryl Crow

10/24/15     Six musicians, including Crow, had a hand in writing this 1994 rock/folk release.  Shortly after, Travis Tritt wrote the song, "Strong Enough to be Your Man", which means this tune is probably about him.  During live performances of the song, Crow usually plays accordion.  She is also well-versed on guitar, bass and keyboards.

"Strong Enough" claimed the #1 spot in Canada, #3 in Australia and ranked from #3 to #10 on 5 U.S. charts.  She has also performed the tune live with Stevie Nicks which produced a video.

Born in 1962 in Kennett, Missouri, she remained in the state throughout college.  In high school she was involved in many activities including the National Honor Society, National FFA Organization a majorette, crowned Paper Doll Queen in her senior year, and was an all-state track athlete in which she received a medal in the 75-meter low hurdles.  She went on to the University of Missouri and received honorary doctorates of music from this college and Southeast Missouri State Univ.

She then went on to become an elementary school music teacher while singing in bands in the evenings.  When she met musician and producer Jay Oliver, her music career started to take off in the form of commercial jingles.  She actually made $40,000 on one McDonald's ad which she created.

Crow has sold more then 50 million records worldwide and has won 9 Grammys from 32 nominations.  She will not be inspired by any music without a drumbeat.
